When summer arrives, our Toastmasters club trades agendas and lecterns for lawn chairs and backyard BBQs. Rather than holding formal meetings, we gather casually throughout the summer to enjoy good food, refreshing drinks, and—of course—engaging conversation. It’s a relaxed, low-pressure way to stay connected while soaking up the best parts of the season.
Our summer BBQs still include a Toastmasters favourite: a lighthearted round of Table Topics. With no timers or evaluations in sight, these impromptu speaking moments are all about fun, spontaneity, and shared laughter. They remind us that great communication doesn’t always happen at a podium—it often happens around a picnic table.
These gatherings are also open to past members, giving everyone a chance to reconnect, catch up, and feel part of the community again. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the members who have opened their homes and hosted over the years. Your generosity and hospitality are a big part of what makes our club such a welcoming and lively place—no matter the season.
