Club Speech Contest Highlights – February 24

On February 24, our Toastmasters club hosted an exciting evening of speaking, inspiration, and friendly competition during our annual Speech Contest. Members stepped up to the stage to challenge themselves, share meaningful stories, and demonstrate the skills they’ve been developing through Toastmasters.

Table Topics Contest

The evening began with the Table Topics Contest, where participants were challenged to deliver impromptu speeches on a surprise topic. This contest highlights quick thinking, creativity, and confidence.

Congratulations to our winners:

  • 1st Place: Scott Arnall

  • 2nd Place: Benedicta Otakpor

We also applaud Sarah and Alba for their thoughtful and engaging responses.

International Speech Contest

Next, contestants delivered their prepared speeches in the International Speech Contest, sharing personal stories and powerful messages with the audience.

The winners were:

  • 1st Place: Lauren Makar – “Three Words That Kept Me Going”

  • 2nd Place: Joanne Divine – “Acceptance – Compassion – Trust”

We also thank Vincent Varga for his participation and contribution to an inspiring contest.

Looking Ahead

The winners from the two speech categories will represent our club at the Area Contest on March 21st, which will take place at the Ampersand Building. We wish them the very best as they continue their Toastmasters journey and share their messages with a wider audience.

Congratulations to all contestants and thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success. Events like these remind us how powerful public speaking can be in building confidence, connection, and community.
